Practical Shooting Class April Fool's Day
Tuesday, 21 February 2017 00:00

Practical shooting is the fastest growing and most exciting of the shooting sports and PS101 provides you with the information you need to get started.

We begin with a presentation in our education center covering the fundamentals of practical shooting and the gear you need to participate. Each student receives a handout for taking notes. You should bring something to write with, sometimes we run out of pens. Lunch is around noon. We typically order pizza or sandwiches but you can also BYO. The presentation continues after lunch and ends around two followed by (weather permitting) a range exercise where students have the opportunity to shoot a course of fire under the supervision of the instructors. We are usually done by 16:00 but it can go longer if the class is large or we take a long lunch.

Students wishing to take part in the range exercise will need:
•    a handgun chambered for one of the common defensive calibers
•    ~100 rounds of ammunition
•    at least two magazines or speed loaders
•    eye and ear protection

We shoot outside so dress for the weather. Plan on finishing up around five.

Students interested in competing in an actual match can do so at the SEMPS/LGC season opener. This match features four classifier stages and is designed to help new competitors obtain USPSA classification at one match instead of four.

PS101 is provided free of charge. Attendance is open to anyone. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The class is hosted by Livingston Gun Club at 2440 Hunter Road in Brighton. Seating is limited to 24. Contact the instructors at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to register or get more info.
